Orchha is the seat of the eponymous former princely state of central India, in the Bundelkhand region. The grangeur of Orchha is well captured in stone by the Bundela rulers and, thus, frozen for all time. Even today, the palaces and temples of the Bundela rulers of 16th and 17th centuries appear in their original perfection. Orchha was founded in 1501 by Bundela leader Rudra Pratap Singh. This stretch of land along the Betwa river appeared to him as the ideal place to build his new capital.

Have delicious breakfast early in the morning in Agra hotel and drive for Agra railway station to board train for Jhansi. Day 8 Orchha- Khajuraho (155 kms/ 4 hrs)- Erotic temples

The next and last destination is Khajuraho. After scrumptious breakfast in Orchha, depart for Khajuraho. Our representative will receive and introduce you with Khajuraho tour guide. After relaxing a bit in your hotel, move for exploring Khajuraho.

The temple complex of Khajuraho is India's unique gift to the world and a paean to the life, love and the joy, perfect in execution and sublime in expression. Life in every form and mood was captured here in stone. This testifies not only the artisan workmanship, but also to the extraordinary foresight of Chandela Rajputs under whose rule the temples were designed and built. The Khajuraho temples were built in a very short span of only 100 years. From 950- 1050 AD in a truly inspired burst of creativity. Only 22 of the original 85 temples have survived. However, these are undoubtedly one of the world's greatest artistic wonders.

Architecturally the temples of Khajuraho are unique and quite different from the usual temples of this period. Each stands on a high masonry with a clear upward direction in the structures. This vertical projection imparts grace and lightness to the structure. Each of the main chambers has its own roof. The highest chamber in the middle, the lowest at the entrance and portico. The overall architecture is a fantastic replication of ascending peaks of the Himalayas as the abode of the gods. The three main rooms are the entrance (Ardha Mandapa), the auditorium (mandapa) and the Holy of Holies (Garbha Griha- sanctum sanctorum). The temple complex of Khajuraho is divided into three groups. The Western Group is home to the most important and most beautiful temples of the entire complex. These are pure Hindu temples and were built during 950-1050 AD. The eastern group consists of Jain temples. These temples were also built during 950-1050 AD. The southern group are isolated Hindu temples scattered in abot 3 kms area. Here are the youngest and oldest temples to see. They were built between about 870 and 1150 AD.

In the evening, either attend ‘sound & light show’or attend cultural show. Later, return to hotel for overnight stay.
