Day 2 Jaipur sightseeing
After breakfast, proceed on sightseeing tour of Jaipur. In the first half, you will be visiting the monuments in the Amer region. The first historical monument to be visited is Amber Fort, built in 1592 by Raja Man Singh I and a UNESCO-listed Rajput fortress famed for its Sheesh Mahal, grand courtyards and artistic Hindu architecture. Enjoy a ride on a caparisoned elephant from foothill of Amber Fort to main gate at hilltop.
Hereinafter, visit Jagat Shiromani Temple, constructed in the 17th century, is dedicated to Lord Krishna and Meera Bai, featuring exquisite marble carvings and ornate toranas. It is historically significant for housing an idol worshipped by Meera Bai.
The next halt is Panna Meena Ka Kund, a 16th-century symmetrical stepwell near Amber Fort, known for its geometric staircases and rainwater harvesting design. It reflects Rajasthan’s ancient water conservation engineering and architectural precision.
On the way back to the city, have a stop-over at Jal Mahal, the iconic Water Palace of Jaipur, standing gracefully in Man Sagar Lake and dating back to the 18th century. This five-storey Rajput structure appears to float on water and is a prime photography attraction in Jaipur.
Post-lunch, visit the three iconic monuments of the Pink City of Rajasthan - City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal.
City Palace, established by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727, is a magnificent complex blending Mughal and Rajput architecture. It houses royal courtyards, museums, and the Chandra Mahal, still serving as the Jaipur royal residence.
Jantar Mantar, built in 1734, features the world’s largest stone sundial and 19 astronomical instruments. This UNESCO-listed observatory showcases advanced 18th-century Indian astronomy and scientific innovation.
Hawa Mahal, the iconic Palace of Winds built in 1799, features 953 latticed windows designed for royal women to observe street festivities unseen. Its honeycomb façade makes it Jaipur’s most photographed architectural landmark.
Having visited the historical and architectural gems of Jaipur, explore colourful market of Jaipur. The bazaars like Johari Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar are famous for gemstones, bandhani textiles, lac bangles and handcrafted souvenirs. These traditional markets reflect the Pink City’s thriving artisanal and trading heritage.
Govind Dev Ji Temple, located within the City Palace complex, is one of Rajasthan’s most revered Krishna temples. The evening aarti attracts thousands of devotees daily, creating a spiritually uplifting experience in Jaipur.
